Hurricane Helene Relief

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene there is much work to be done, both now and in the future, to respond to the devastation and need experienced by our neighbors in East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and throughout the southeast.

Already many members of our St. Luke’s community are responding to the devastation of Hurricane Helene by supporting local groups and relief organizations from Cleveland by donating supplies to assist first responders, volunteers on the ground, and most importantly, local communities directly impacted by the storm. We commend your ongoing support of those organized relief efforts and can assist putting you in contact with local agencies you wish to help.

If you would like to make a financial donation to the ongoing relief efforts, the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee commends the following options:

You may also write a check to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with “Storm Relief” written in the memo line or give online through our website. Visit www.stlukescleveland.org/give, click the Give Online button, select the Special Offering Fund, and choose “Storm Relief” in the memo line.

Funds directed to St. Luke’s for Storm Relief efforts will be sent to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Canton, North Carolina, Diocese of Western North Carolina. Fr. Joel served as deacon-in-charge, and then rector of St. Andrew’s from August 1990-January 1995. St. Andrew’s is already providing meals and other vital assistance to the people of Haywood County, and financial assistance is much needed for them to continue serving their neighbors.

Long-term, we will be putting together a plan of action to support rebuilding communities in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina once the initial crisis has passed. As needs become more apparent in the weeks and months to come, St. Luke’s will look to partner with a local community to assist with everything from household goods to work crews in their efforts to recover. If you would like to sign up for a future Storm Response Team, please contact the church office at (423) 476-5541, or complete the form below.
