Dr. Norwood is a steadfast supporter of a modern classical approach to education, a model of pedagogy founded in ancient Greece and further developed in the middle ages that has developed great minds throughout the centuries. Based in the study of Latin and Greek languages, it is designed to instill wisdom and virtue in students through the study of liberal and fine arts as well as the Great Books. By focusing on diverse voices and inclusion as well as rigor, CCA is dedicated to bringing the time-tested classical curriculum into the 21st century.
In addition to running the Courtyard Classical Academy, Dr. Norwood has been an adjunct professor at Lee University since 2005 in English and the Humanities. She has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Literary Studies from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. Coral and her husband, Chris, are members of St. Luke’s.
