February is St. Luke's Month to Supply the Caring Place

Thank you for all that you
do to support the Caring Place!

St. Luke's has been so very supportive of the Caring Place over the past several months.  Our participation and support in their ongoing community ministry has made a difference in the lives of people in Cleveland and Bradley County.  In December, our congregation was able to make a $2,900 gift for food as part of the "Feed My Sheep" drive.  This is in addition to the great work done in November to provide blankets and space heaters to those needing warmth during this cold season.

Every February, St. Luke's makes the commitment to supply the Caring Place with a food suplly, similar to what we did recently with our holiday contributions.  Listed below are the Caring Place's commonly needed items, however feel free to donate whatever you feel appropriate.  Please bring your donation to the church and place it in one of the two collection bins, in the Parish House and Parish Hall.  These foodstuffs will be delivered every week to the Caring Place for distribution.

When shopping, the Caring Place suggests small cans, jars, boxes, and bottles so that clients can more easily carry their food and have more variety in their food bag.

Suggested items include: boxed complete meals, canned meats, pasta products, instant potatoes, mac & cheese, dried beans, rice, canned or dried fruits, peanut butter, jelly, syrup, pancake mix, cereal, cooking oil

Reaching out to our Community!

Outreach Ministries

Church-Lead Outreach Programs at St. Luke's throughout the year turn our attention toward raising materials and funds for specific outreach ministries:

The Backpack Ministry during the summer collects money and supplies for students in need throughout our area and Appalachia, with efforts spearheaded by Thankful Memorial in Chattanooga and Appalachian Ministries in Knoxville.

The Shoebox Ministry each November is led by our Youth.  We collect for Christmas gifts for children, ages 4-12, which are then distributed locally in Hamilton and Bradley Counties by Episcopal Metropolitan Ministries.

Food Drives in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas provide extra resources for The Caring Place to distribute meals during the holidays.  We also set aside each February as St. Luke's designated month to stock the Caring Place's stores.

Community Programs are supported by our congregation through volunteers and financial contributions to help meet the physical, social, and economic needs of our community.  These organizations include: Bradley Initiative for Church and Community (BICC), The Caring Place, Habitat for Humanity, and The Salvation Army.
