Mission Statement of the Christian Education Committee

The mission of the Christian Education Committee is to facilitate spiritual growth and Christian formation for all members of St. Luke's parish by offering quality educational opportunities within the context of the Christian faith as understood by the Episcopal Church.

Children's Christian Education

Nursery - available each Sunday morning 7:45am - 12:00pm
The nursery is available for infants through 3 years of age. The nursery is also available during most church events. For more information, please contact the church office at 476-5541.

"The Good News Express" - Sundays - 9:30am - 10:30am
  • The same Bible story or theme is taught for three or four weeks. Each story or theme is called a unit.
  • Each week the children rotate to a different station in a different room. Children begin in St. Alban's Chapel for a brief chapel service then move to one of four rooms that is specifically created to tell the story from a different way.
  • Repetition is an important part of the curriculum. The more ways children explore a story or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories.
  • The focus on active learning and the varieties of experiences keep interest high throughout the unit.

If you have an questions  or if you would like to volunteer to help in any way, please contact Pam Part at 476-5541 or 886-4054.

Icon Study Group
Second Wednesday of Each month (September thu May)
5:30pm - 7:00pm - Parish Hall

Icons have been called "windows in the Heaven". Prayer with icons is one of the ancient spiritual disciplines of Christianity.  Always, and above all else, the Holy Icons point not to themselves but to Christ.  The theology of the icon is based upon the Incarnation.

Icons have stood as witnesses to the Christian faith and the truth of the Incarnation since the Early church.  In the same way that the beads of a rosary are strung together as an aid to prayer, so are the icons united in Christ and knit one to another in an endless procession of the faithful to God.

Come join us as we explore the prayer and symbolic language of the icon.  Although this is an ongoing group, you are welcome to join at any time.  For more information call Pam Park at 886-4054.
